Gather, a virtual gathering space platform has raised $26 million in Series A funding led by Sequoia Capital. Index Ventures and YC Continuity also participated alongside investors such as Jeff Weiner (CEO of LinkedIn), Dylan Field (cofounder of early-stage VC firm Javelin), and Kevin Hartz (CEO at Eventbrite).

The company intends to use the funds raised in this round of funding to continue expanding its operations and reach. Led by CEO Phillip Wang, Gather provides virtual spaces for gatherings of all types, such as events, conferences, or offices-and even college campuses!
The company has developed a web-based video calling experience that combines talking with walking, letting users talk to other people who are next to them on the map. The creation tools also allow users make their own custom spaces.
Gather has hosted more than 150 paid events, including conferences like ICML and RSS, weddings in Napa Valley vineyards, birthday parties for startups—and even office spaces for remote teams at companies like Coinbase or Amplitude.
